Hmm, since I last took time to write we’ve come back from our vacation to Missouri, went on a vacation to the Berkshires (annual camping/astronomy trip), came back from that, emptied our basement and begun "remodelling" (in quotes because ripping out the walls and digging out the floor is more like "reconstructing"). Oh yes, and toss in a few weekend activities and one tornado (yes, a tornado in Brooklyn ).

The basement is coming along nicely if a bit slower than we had hoped, but we gained about one foot in headroom between digging down and eliminating the drop ceiling. The tiles are in, the walls are primed, we’re waiting for new windows to arrive. A few glitches on things like trying to find louvered bi-fold metal doors for the boiler room. A few years back, everyone had them. They’re simple, cheap things, but no one seems to have them anymore.

The boys are back in school with the typical little boy complaints, Cub Scouts are back in full swing with a day of camp activities tomorrow (don’t know what the weather will allow tomorrow…), and another scout camping trip coming up in a couple of weeks. It’s the busy season.

The telescopes are all buried behind/under piles of boxes with stuff stored from the basement while the construction continues. So they haven’t seen the light of night in nearly two months. And they won’t anytime soon since as soon as the basement is done, we move stuff from upstairs into the basement so the upstairs two rooms can be renovated. That work should be much simpler and quicker than the basement work.
