PS102 TV Turnoff Week Stargazing – CANCELLED

Due to poor weather, tonights event is being canceled.

I am an optimist at heart, but the forecast is now for cloudy all the rest of today and overnight. The original announcement is below, but the event is canceled.

We’ll be hosting the annual stargazing event in Shore Road Park on Sunday evening from 8:00-9:30 pm. More details to follow.

The meeting location will be between the two ball fields near the center of the map below. The nearest entrance to the park is at Bay Ridge Parkway. Do not go to the playground. We will not be at the playground. If the ball fields are in use, we will still be near there, but closer to the walk path on the eas tof the park (right side in this map).

As of 10pm Saturday, the forecast is for cloudy conditions. The Clear Sky Clock is pessimistic about visibility; Accuweather is calling for mostly sunny at 4pm, but deterioriation to cloudy by 8pm. So, at this point we’re just going to wait and see. If the sky is completely overcast, the event will be called off and I will post here. Obviously, if it starts raining we cancel, too.
