I’m afraid that weather is not permitting, again
The forecast is for 60% overcast starting around 5pm anc continuing through the night. According to accuweather.com, Saturday morning turns clear, with clouds increasing around 5pm again. So no stargazing.
December is a tough time to schedule stargazing. The odds of good weather are lower than in late summer, so the chances of getting a good night are less that 30%. We’ve just been a bit less lucky than that.
Original Notice Follows:
We will once again be attempting to do some stargazing at Shore Road Park, weather permitting. As you know, it has not been very permitting lately. See this map for the location. We will be meeting between the southernmost two ballfields.
With winter nearly upon us, darkness
comes early so we can also be out before it gets too late for the
younger children. The first quarter moon will be high overhead and Jupiter and Venus will be readily visible in the
southwestern evening sky. We will have some telescope views of the planets and the moon, and then point
out the fall constellations that are visible.
Shore Road Park can get windy, so even if the air seems calm at your house, wear warm clothing to come to the park.
