NEAIC Underway!

After an adventure getting out of NYC (got halfway through Manhattan and realized I had left my wallet at home, necesitating a return home to retrieve it), then finding that the first talk actually began at 9:00am, not 8:00 which was breakfast.

The first plenary session was by Rob Gendler, the "hero" of many of hear in the northeast since he’s done some fantastic images from his driveway in Connecticut. Rob shared a lot of good information on what he called "hybrid imaging." His hybrid imaging techniques use a number of techniques, compositing, mosaicking, mixed focal length images, etc., to produce visually stunning images.

Two things stuck in my mind from the talk: (1) mixed focal ratios need to differ by no more than about a 3:1 ratio for good visual effects and (2) when using RegiStar to produce a mosaic, use a crappy wide-field shot as a background and Registar will drop all your high resolution images into the right spot.
