I first took an image of this a few years ago from near Narrowsburg, NY, and wanted to try an image with a wider field-of-view, so I used my pair of Canon T6i modified DSLRs with the Rokinon 85 mm f/1.4 lenses. Unfortunately, the location near Jackson, MO isn’t really rural any more. The light pollution there (near Cape Girardeau, MO) definitely qualifies as suburban and isn’t noticeably different than want I can get driving little more than an hour from NYC.

This is 3 nights of images, about 680 images between the two cameras, 25 second exposures, ISO 1600. Given the sky background, that works fairly well for keeping the read noise down so the image noise is mostly shot noise from the sky background itself.

Gory details on the image can be found on my astrobin gallery.
